Two-Spirit Advocate

Adrienne (they/them) is an Anishinaabe Two-Spirit curator, writer, Sundancer, performer, and future Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba in the Indigenous Studies department. They are a registered member of Couchiching First Nation in Treaty 3 territory, and currently reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Additionally, Huard is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Manitoba, researching Two-Spirit, trans, and queer Indigenous critiques, aesthetics, and visual culture. Launched in April 2022, they co-edited a special guest issue of the Journal of Visual Culture with Dr. Gabrielle Moser, titled “Reparation and Visual Culture.” This thematic edition examined the critical roles that art and aesthetics play in the act of reparation while specifically engaging with Black, Indigenous, and diasporic art histories. They are a recipient of a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Doctoral award, and sit on the Board for 2Spirit Manitoba Inc.
