Julie and Émile

Julie: Researcher and Parent Support Facilitator Émile: Teacher

Julie (she/her) and Émile (they/them) are queer and trans advocates from Atlantic Canada, both in their 40s, originally from rural communities, and of white settler ancestry. Between them, Julie and Émile have decades of experience in supporting queer and trans youth and families.Julie is a queer cis researcher and university educator whose research focuses on the health and well-being of trans, Two-Spirit, and gender diverse youth and their families. She is also the founder of national and provincial support groups for trans children, youth, and their parents. Émile is a queer and trans elementary school teacher. They are also facilitator of a provincial trans youth group and a school GSA facilitator. In their home life, Julie and Émile are kept busy as parents of six children, teens, and young adults, and as reluctant servants to three eccentric cats.
