Xénia
Community Advocate
Xénia is a transfeminine non-binary acadian artist originally from the Lobster capital of the world, Shediac. Since her early days, she has been disrupting the New Brunswick cultural scene by challenging the lack of representation of LGBTQIA+ characters throughout the Acadian diaspora, notably through her poetry, comedy, and drag. Today, she works primarily in Montreal as a performer and poet spearheading every gig with her Acadian dialect, chiac. Through her writing, she delves into the relationship between languages, identity, body, memory and culture, weaving them with anarchy and precision. In March 2023, Xénia released her first poetry collection "Des fleurs comme moi," published by Prise de Parole. In March 2024, the same collection was released as an audiobook narrated by the poet herself. Xénia is currently working on her next collection and on her interdisciplinary project "Viens back à ça". When she’s not working on her next gig, she’s taking notes in her journal, watching reality tv or thinking about the beach.
