Carrie & Wayne

Parents and Community Advocates

Carrie and Wayne are parents and community leaders living in the Okanagan region of BC. They founded a non-profit organization, TransParent Okanagan, dedicated to supporting other parents of transgender kids (of all ages!). Wayne is also a mathematics professor at UBC and an elected School Board Trustee. Carrie holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology and is currently studying for her Master's degree in Clinical Social Work. As the Executive Director of TransParent, Carrie is also responsible for the daily operation of the organization. Their oldest child is completing law school this year and their youngest is currently studying at university and hopes to become a doctor. Their kids are also award-winning volunteers and scholars, but what Carrie and Wayne are most proud of is that they are both genuinely good and kind people. When they are not working or volunteering in their community, they can be found camping in and around beautiful BC in their beloved “MoHoDojoCasaHouse”, hosting friends for Spaghetti Sundays or  Living room Dance Parties, or playing board games around the kitchen table. They also share their home with three furry, snorty, chubby pugs named Guinness, Bubbles and Kiki.
